Introduction

ET Model from China has a rapidly expanding catalogue of photo-etched and detail sets for a wide variety of kits in varying scales, together with a very prolific release schedule. Alongside the detail sets for specific kits, there is also a range of less specific sets and tools, such as these six sets of ABS rod of varying diameter.

Each set contains ten rods of white ABS plastic, each being 10cm in length and solid. The diameters each set is available in are;

T-005 0.5mm

T-006 0.8mm

T-007 1.0mm

T-008 1.5mm

T-009 2.0mm

T-010 3.0mm

There's not much else to say! Except...whilst being of a similar softness etc., to polystyrene and therefore easy to work etc., it's ABS - that's Acrylonitrite butadiene styrene and not polystyrene, and therefore normal styrene cement may as well be water. You'll have to use superglue, epoxy or some similar adhesive to work with them.

Conclusion

Useful...but would have been much more useful made from polystyrene? I can't help feeling that there must be some advantage to making them from ABS that I'm unaware of? If it's a cost issue...which given the amounts involved I can't believe...then they've missed a trick, as styrene rod would have been much more useful.
